Casper and Alcova Fishing was excellent yesterday. Bright blue skies over Central Wyoming and calm. The NPL fly fishing guides reported solid fishing on Grey Reef and Fremont was busy. Miracle Mile roads were still a mess. Today we will return to calm and blue bird. Grey Reef flows have been bumped to 2600cfs and the clarity is improving dramatically below Government Bridge. Grey Reef remained in tip top condition through the moisture of late last week. That is the beauty of being on the upper river and increasing flows. The upper is the last to suffer dirty water in the rare event it happens, plus most access is on hard surface or gravel roads that don’t turn into a mud bog. Added flow clears the river very quickly and is a good thing all the way around. Blue Creek AKA Fly Shop Creek, was puking pretty good yesterday afternoon with no ill impact. Whew!
The bug report is pretty simple, Baetis, midges, worms, leeches, Rusty Scud, eggs
NPL is the premier operation in the region on one of the best fisheries anywhere. Such a strong guide crew, amazing quantities of private access and our location leaves nothing to be desired. We still have some excellent spots available for June, July and August. Wyoming is flirting with opening Chukar on Sept 15. This will make our Sage Grouse hunts even more desirable so you might want to get in on that soon. Plan on the last 10 days of September.
